The INDIGO study focuses on fear of recurrence in psychosis. The INDIGO study is led by Dr Stephanie Allan.
What do we mean when we say “fear of recurrence” ?
Fear of recurrence is a term used to describe the worries that people have about their health becoming bad again after they have recovered from a period of being unwell. Fear of recurrence is something that is known to be transdiagnostic. This means that it happens in all sorts of health conditions including cancer, multiple sclerosis and also common mental health problems like psychosis.
The INDIGO Study

In Glasgow, a talking therapy is available to people who experience fear of recurrance after cancer. This service is provided by The Beatson Cancer Charity. However, there is not a service like this for people who experience fear of recurrance in psychosis.
The INDIGO study team are collaborating with The Beatson Cancer Charity to learn about what has worked well for people who access this service. We will then combine this information, with what we learn from speaking with people who have experienced fear of recurrance in psychosis and mental health staff to develop a new talking therapy. By working closely with people who have experienced psychosis and mental health staff using co-design, we hope what we develop will be a source of support for those living with fear of recurrance.
INDIGO will be running till 2028.
